Truckie’s Northland Adventure
The two-yearly trucker’s holiday – The ‘Northern Classic Commercials Long Lap 2014’ began in Cambridge during September.
Co-sponsored by Gough TWL, participants in the Northland odyssey were treated to a vast array of hidden treasures, holiday activities and camaraderie during their 11 days on the road together. For the 80+ registered classic and vintage vehicles it is always a test of endurance that would test a few to the limit, however most made it home and now the wait is on for the next big South Island run in 2016.
The Classic runs have been running for over ten years, now alternating between the North & South Islands and involving enthusiasts from all over the country. This year was the turn of the Northern Classic Commercials Club and their chosen route took vehicles all over Northland before ending in Tauranga.
Tour highlights were many and included the scenic vistas of Waipoua Forest, Hokianga Harbour and many more all the way to the lighthouse at Cape Reinga. Many vintage & classic transport collections were visited along the way and local hospitality - particularly that of some of the local transport companies - was gratefully accepted and enjoyed.
Gough TWL thank the Northern Classic Commercials Club and Truck Journal for the opportunity to once again support this great event.
